John C. Behrens
November 26, 1960 - May 7, 2010

John Charles Behrens was born on November 26, 1960, in Windom, Minnesota to Loren John and Dora Lee (Morgan) Behrens. He was baptized on January 8, 1961, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers and was later confirmed on April 20, 1975 at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. John received his education in the Windom Public Schools; graduating from the Windom Area High School in the Class of 1979. He then attended SDSU in Brookings, South Dakota before returning home to start farming in 1982.

He was united in marriage to Laurie Ann Voss on August 13, 1983, at the Indian Lake Baptist Church in Worthington. This marriage was blessed with two children, Amber and Jesse. After marriage, John and Laurie continued farming in Delafield Township. In 2009, John was diagnosed with brain cancer. He fought the disease courageously with his family at his side. On Friday evening, May 7, 2010, John passed away peacefully, with his family at his bedside, at his home in rural Windom at the age of 49.

John was a member of the Delafield Lutheran church from 1983-1998 where he served on the board. He joined the American Lutheran Church in Windom in 1998. John was a loving husband and father who was always very proud and supportive. He coached his children's basketball teams in grade school. He loved sports and never missed his children's games sometimes going to two games 50 miles apart the same night. He enjoyed playing basketball on Wednesday nights, and was on softball and bowling teams in his younger years. He loved animals and enjoyed farming and always looked forward to each spring.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-six years, Laurie Behrens of Windom; two children, Amber Behrens of Minneapolis; Jesse Behrens of Mankato; parents, Loren and Dora Behrens of Windom; mother and father-law, Donald and Marian Voss of Worthington; two sisters, Caroline and Wayne Witt of Bingham Lake; Jean and Bob Knutson of Windom; three sister-in-laws, Jolene and Marlyn Nystrom of Worthington; Diane and Steve Johnson of Jefferson, CO; LaDonna and Scott Carlson of Round Lake; two brother-in-laws, Darvin and Gail Voss of Lexington, VA; Duane Voss of Worthington; friends, Tom and Pam Miller of Gilbert, AZ; and nieces, nephews aunts, uncles and numerous friends.
