Gale W. Starr age 89 of Maquoketa Iowa died on Monday morning October 312005.0 at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa Iowa.



A celebration of his life will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday November 52005.0 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa with Chaplain/Celebrant Rev. Ruth Ann Scott of Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until Service Time on Saturday November 52005.0 at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa Iowa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery Maquoketa Iowa.



Gale W. Starr was born on October 1 1916 in Welton Iowa to Joseph Walter Starr and Nellie (Kitts) Starr. He was a Baldwin Iowa High School graduate and a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He married Vernita Bollen on February 14 1939 in Spragueville Iowa. She preceded him in death on October 10 1988.



Gale had worked in the foundry at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa as a general laborer for over 20 years retiring in 1968. Gale and Vernita had raised their family in the Sabula Lost Nation and Maquoketa area.



Gale was a member of the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75. He enjoyed the outdoors with hunting and fishing and in most recent years enjoyed going to the riverboat.



Gale is survived by: children- Jeanette Horan of Maquoketa IA Roger(Marcia) Starr of Houston TX & Gary(Jolene) Starr of Bellevue IA; 7 grandchildren 1 great-granddaughter; 1 sister- Betty Williams of Wyoming MI; 1 brother- Walter Starr of DeWitt IA; & nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents his wife 3 sisters 2 brothers & 1 grandchild.
