GARNER -- Calvin W. Peterson, 82, of Garner, formerly of Badger, died Wednesday (August 29, 2007) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner with Rev. Dale Glawatz officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Dows at 1:30 P.M.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner.

Calvin Webster Peterson, the son of Charles Wesley and Ida Moncina (Ingebritson) Peterson, was born December 27, 1924 at Dows. After attending school at Dows, Calvin worked at the Ellsworth Ranch west of Dows for four years. In 1946 he moved to Ft. Dodge where he was employed at Horn Manufacturing for 25 years. Cal served his country in the U.S. Army from December of 1948 to January of 1950. In 1971, he began working for Land O' Lakes Feed Company in Ft. Dodge, retiring in 1988. Cal moved to Badger in 1987, Phoenix, AZ in 2005 and Garner in July of 2007. As a young man, he enjoyed piloting small airplanes and later traveling to different parts of the United State on commercial flights. Traveling in his motor home was also one of his favorite hobbies.

He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ft. Dodge and the Elks Lodge No. 306.

Cal is survived by his three children, James Peterson of Mesa, AZ, Jerry Peterson of Tempe, AZ and Jolene (Kevin) Dicken of Gilbert, AZ; his former wife, Camilla Allen Peterson of Gilbert, AZ; five grandchildren, Shannon and Sam Dicken and Carrie, Rose and Jay Peterson;three great-grandchildren, Lane, Thomas and Samantha; two brothers, Dr. Clifton E. (Gladys) Peterson of Kenosha, WI and Ray L. Peterson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chad Peterson; and three sisters, Berneace (Sam) Cataldo, Margaret (Louis) Toft and Marcella Rang.
