Robert "Bob" Schmidt
July 15, 1920 - January 5, 2009

Robert "Bob" Morris Schmidt was born on July 15, 1920, in Centerville, South Dakota to the late Roy and Inga (Daloger) Schmidt. He attended Centerville Public School and graduated with the Class of 1938.

On February 27, 1943, Bob was united in marriage to Ann Cooper at the Catholic Church in Centerville, SD. They lived in Centerville and Beresford prior to coming to live in Heron Lake in 1945 where they lived for seven years and Bob farmed. In 1952 Bob and Ann moved to Windom where he was a carpenter for 10 years and then worked at the Caldwell Packing Co. for 25 years. Ann passed away on December 26, 1997. Bob moved into the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom on April 16, 2007.

Bob was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom where he was an usher, the Knights of Columbus where he was a Grand Knight and helped with the fair stand, and was a charter member of the Eagles. Bob also was on the Jackson County Revolving Loan Fund Advisory Board from 1992-2003, the Southern MN Breeders Association-Chinchilla, and was the mayor/councilman of Wilder. He enjoyed reading to the 3rd Grade classes at Winfair Elementary School and received the Friend of Education award in 2004. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his three grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.

Bob passed away on Monday morning, January 5, 2009, at the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom.

He is survived by one son, Larry Schmidt and his wife, Fran, of Mindoro, WI; one daughter, Barbara Hunter and her husband, Kenneth, of Wilder; three grandchildren, Kraig Hunter and his wife, Pam, Kevin Hunter and his wife, Karlene, and Roland Schmidt and his wife, Michelle; seven great-grandchildren, Joe, Kendra, Jake, Kennedy, and Kaycee Hunter, and Lilly and Hattie Schmidt; one sister, Dorothea Anderson and her husband, Wayne, of Bella Vista, AR; one brother, James Schmidt of Kenyon; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; and one son, Paul Roy.
