Esther Adeline (Gravley) Larson was born on December 24, 1919, in Murray County, Minnesota to the late Oslag and Ellen (Pierson Gravley) Jones. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Ellsworth, Minnesota and later renewed her faith at the First Baptist Church in Windom. Esther received her education from the Windom Public Schools.
On November 15, 1946, Esther was united in marriage to Melvin T. Larson in Windom. Esther worked in various retail stores in Windom, List’s Bakery, Quevli’s, Alma’s Dress Shop, The Wolff’s Store and as a waitress at the Hi-Lo Club in Lakefield. Mel passed away on July 27, 1979. Esther continued living in her home in Windom until recently moving into the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society in Windom due to declining health.
Esther was called to her heavenly home on Saturday afternoon, February 21st, 2009 at the age of 89.
Esther was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler and received numerous bowling trophies. She also learned bridge after retiring and enjoyed playing in a couple of bridge clubs.
She is survived by her children, Merriell J. Frantsen and her husband, Jerry, of Windom; Jon D. Larson and his wife Marsha of Stillwater; Bill (Wm.) A. Larson and his wife, Sue, of Windom; daughter-in-law Lynn Thomas and her husband, Greg of Ramsey; one step-daughter, Judy A. Peery of Mankato; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; one sister in law, Vivian Downs of Windom; and several other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin T. Larson, Sr.; one son, Melvin T. Larson, Jr.; one step-daughter, Barbara Larson; three brothers,
Orville Gravley, Elmer Gravley and Kenneth Gravley; and three sisters, Pearl Haas, Ruth Dowd, and Lenore Hale.
