Leland Lloyd Loghry was born on September 1, 1929 in Hepburn, Iowa, the son of John and Lena (Burns) Loghry. He passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Eiler House in Clarinda, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 22 days.
Leland moved to Shenandoah as a child and graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1948. Upon graduating, Leland joined the United States Navy and served in the Korean War.
He married Evelyn Green on April 8, 1951 in Blockton, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children; Bill, Linda, Beverly, Kathy, Larry and Dianne.
Leland lived most of his life on the farm. Besides farming, he worked various jobs including construction and Eatons Corporation from which he retired.
Since retiring, Leland enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed caring for his farm animals, gardening and was actively involved in the Shenandoah Assembly of God Church. He volunteered at the Coin Library, served on the Coin City Council and mowed lawns for elderly widows.
Leland was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lena; his sister Haroldene; and his brothers Harold, Leo and Virgil. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Evelyn Loghry of Coin, Iowa, children; Bill Loghry and wife Trish of St. George, Utah, Linda Woolsey and husband Bill of Clarinda, Iowa, Beverly Loghry of Nashville, Tennessee, Kathy Hall and husband Dave of Farragut, Iowa, Larry Loghry and wife Jacque of Maryville, Missouri and Dianne Nespory and husband Mike of Platte City, Missouri, 19 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren, sister Nina Cristofano and husband Dan of Denver, Colorado, brother Eldon Loghry and wife Norma of Thurman, Iowa, and along with numerous other relatives and friends.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn his loss.
