VICTORIA RAE LANDING "TORI"
Ms. Tori Landing, of St. Rose Ave. in Fredonia, was carried home on angels wings by her Lord and Savior. She passed away peacefully at her home while surrounded by her loving family early Tuesday morning, May 7, 2013. She was 9 years old. Victoria was born in West Bend on December 13, 2003, daughter of Timothy and Charlene Koehler Landing. The family has lived in Fredonia since 1998. Ms. Landing attended school at Northern Ozaukee Elementary School where she had fun being around her friends and teachers, especially Kameran, Mrs. Murre and Mr. Schultz. Tori was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome at age 2 1/2. She enjoyed attending St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredonia with her family. Tori loved the color red! She also liked Elmo, music, reading, and having her family and friends around her. The noisier and busier things got, the happier she was. Spending time at the Koehler Family Pond; grilling, swimming, and enjoying the campfire were special highlights, as well as time spent at the Balance, Inc. Special Summer Recreational Program. Tori also loved her brother Josh's dog, Bailey, the family cat, King, and her toys. She is survived by her loving parents, Tim and Charlene of Fredonia, brother Joshua "Josh" of Adell and sister Tamara "Tammy", also of Fredonia. She is further survived by her grandparents William (Carolyn) Landing of Appleton, aunts and uncles: Gerald "Jerry" (Barb) Koehler of Crivitz, Fred "Fritz III" (Sue) Koehler of Belgium, Dale (Katie) Koehler of Amery, Bruce (Dawn) Koehler of Random Lake, Ed (Jeanne) Landing of Albany, NY and Hal (Joanne) Landing of Grafton. Tori is also survived by numerous cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Fred & Betty Koehler, Jr., and Helen Landing, and cousin Kristen Koehler. Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon on Friday, May 10th at St. John's Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia. Rev. Robert Zick will preside. She will be laid to rest in St. John's Cemetery, Fredonia. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home ( 1600 W. Grand Ave. , Port Washington) on Thursday from 4-6:30 PM followed by a Time of Sharing at 6:30PM, and visitation at the CHURCH on Friday from 11AM until 12 noon. Memorials are suggested to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation or to Balance, Inc. for the Special Summer Recreational Program. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .

The family wishes to thank Heidi, Sara, Jenny, Mary, Suzie, Konika and Megan and the many therapists who have worked with Tori over the years, as well as the staff at Ozaukee Therapy Services. They would also like to thank Dr. Herdrich, Jill, and staff at West Bend Clinic for the wonderful care over the years, the great people at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, especially Dr. Amos, and Dr. Kovnar & Mary at the Aurora Clinic, Good Hope. Special thanks to Special Spaces Milwaukee for her beautiful room.

"Charlene, Tim & family, I am so sorry to hear about the death of your wonderful little girl. My grand daughters have some little "hair pretties" from your Tori that I got at last year's family reunion. They are really special now. May God comfort you as only he can. "

"I am sorry to of the passing of Victoria Rae. The loss of such a young one is extremely painful. I'd like to share scripture that may bring comfort and hope to your family. Mark 5:35-43 reads in part...While Jesus was speaking, he overheard men telling an officer of the synagogue of a situation which was similar to your family. Upon hearing this, Jesus, Peter, James and John, the brother of James, went alone to the officer's home. When they arrived, Jesus went to the child and told her to get up. Immediately, she did. You see, Jehovah promises a resurrection of our loved ones. (Acts 24:15) We must have faith in this promise. To help strengthen our faith in His promise, please also read Isaiah 55:11 and Isaiah 25:8. "

"I remember meeting Tori. I felt her energy immediately. Then I got to know her and enjoyed every time I was with her. She has something inside her that most of us will never know. I welcome Tori to make visits to us to get her words out now. I felt like she was a daughter I never had...besides her sister, Tammy. She has always been an angel to me and always will be. Her beautiful eyes and smile will stay with me forever. I love you so much Tori, please enjoy your new life."

I had so much fun talking to Charlene and Tammy and her friend and playing with Tori. Thank you for the wonderful memories over the years at Summer Rec. Tori's smile will be missed. May God hold you up during this time."

"I imagine there is no pain more far-reaching and deeper than losing a child. My heart and prayers go out to you at this most difficult time. The bond you have with Tori will never be broken. You will meet again. "

Caitlin Hackett wrote on May 8, 2013:

"I worked at Summer Rec. with Tori and she was the first child I got to be paired up with on a field-trip day. We went to Discovery World and we spent the majority of the time in front of the big aquarium wall there because Tori just laughed hysterically at all the fish that swam by. She always brought a smile to everyone at Summer Rec. My brother and sister both passed away at very young ages from a disorder. Tori reminded me of them so much. My deepest condolences go out to her friends and family. Tori will be so missed at Summer Rec."

"At Ericka's wedding tori was having a blast dancing with all her uncles and laughing all the time. Her smile was contagious."
