Elizabeth J. Oleson

Elizabeth Oleson (Liz), 92, of Fort Dodge passed away on Friday May 10, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Elizabeth was born in Cedar Rapids, IA on November 7, 1920 to Fred and Albia Jones. She grew up and graduated from Barnum High School. In 1944 she married Raymond Lewis Oleson in Cedar Rapids, IA. They lived in Kentucky for a while before moving to Fort Dodge. She worked extensively in the retail industry in the Boston Store and Younkers. She then worked for Trinity Regional Medical Center until she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church for over 45 years. She loved casinos, playing BINGO and other games. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by her sons Wayne (Deb) Oleson of Fort Dodge and Gordon (Mary) Oleson of Burt, IA; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Cormack of Marion, IA and Pauline Mulherin of Cedar Rapids, IA and her brother Donald Jones of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ralph Jones.
