Maria Villavecencio
August 20, 1914 - June 6, 2013
Residence: Pembroke Pines, Florida
Resided in Florida for 59 Years
Religious Affiliation: Catholic
Country of Birth: Ecuador
Born the 2nd daughter of seven children to Reynaldo & Margarita Cruz on the picturesque St Rafael Ranch in Calderon, Ecuador, Maria grew up enjoying a happy childhood filled with nature, animals and the outdoors, all the things that she loved most. It was here that she also became an expert equestrian. She shared her love of horses with her 3 brothers and though young ladies were forbidden to race, Maria won almost every race she entered.
In addition to speaking Spanish and English, Maria learned Quechuao, an ancient native Incan language. This was used to converse with the indigenous help and while exploring the Orient Jungle in Ecuador.
On the St. Rafael Ranch there was always a bountiful harvest of fresh foods. Maria lived a very healthy life style and we attribute this to her longevity, she would have been 99 years old in August.
At 22, Maria married Gustavo Villavecencio. They had 5 children Guadalupe, Ruth, Marco, Carmen and Gus. They celebrated 65 years of marriage.
In 1953 the family immigrated to the United States, seeking a better education and future for their children.
Maria felt privileged to became an American citizen as she appreciated the United States and her life here.
As a true example of a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great grandmother, Maria was always strong, compassionate and generous.
Maria's dreams were realized through the successful lives and professional careers of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those that knew and loved her will always remember and carry her spirit throughout future generations.

Tributes
Williams Family wrote on Jun 10, 2013:
"Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Maria Villavicencio. May you be strengthened and encouraged to know that God will provide much comfort to you in the days ahead as you cope with the passing of your loved one. We are encouraged by His words at Revelation 21: 4 which says of our future hope: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Jehovah has also given us the hope of a resurrection at John 5:28 where Jesus says "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." May the friends and family be comforted during this time of great loss."
