Ms. Barbara Ash, 73, of Burlington, went to be with her Lord at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013, in her home.
Born September 3, 1939 in Barnes City, Iowa, she was the daughter of Ted R. and Ruby Zetta Darlene Billings Kirby. On December 23, 1958 she married Bud Ash. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before he preceded her in death in 2008.
Barbara was employed at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs where she was the Senior Environmental Technician for over 23 years. She worked at JC Penney, Jacks and Lamb's Diner prior to moving to Colorado Springs. Barbara was a homemaker whose first priority was her husband and children. She was considered a professional BINGO player, traveling the United States to play. She had a passion for WWE Wrestling and her man, John Cena. Barbara loved her dog Buddy and she was a giggle box who loved to laugh.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby Paxton of Muscatine; two sons, Todd Ash of Colorado Springs and Kevin Ash (Mona) of Burlington; two daughters, Robin Kennedy (Scott) and Tina Chilton of Burlington; son-in-law, David Fraise of West Burlington; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Kurt, Dustin, Travis, Melissa, Chelsey, Megan and Amber; three great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Thomas and Symfony; four sisters, Delores Wilkins of Davenport, Patricia Downing of Ottumwa, Doris Kirby of Marion, and Marilyn Paulding of Des Moines; and two brothers, Steven Kirby of Ottumwa and Mark Kirby of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her father; daughter, Denise Fraise; granddaughter, Sarah; grandson, Ryan; two brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 26th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.
The funeral service for Barbara will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Chris Carr officiating. Interment will be Aspen Grove Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Barbara's memory.
