"My family and I lived in the Bronx and the Spadafino family were our next door neighbors. We were very close, spending much time together.
Although we left the Bronx in the early 70s, I have fond memories of much laughter and joy from that time...
What I remember most about Onofrio was his smile and gentle spirit. He was very good to us and was a very sweet man.
May he have a peaceful rest...

"Grandpa O, I will miss you very much. I loved all of the time that we spent together. You taught me how to make broccoli-rabe and your famous potatoes. You taught me how to play and win at the Italian card game 'scope'. I enjoyed listening to all of your stories, especially the 'watermelon' story. Everything that you taught me will stay with me and one day I will pass that down to my children. I love you very much and will miss seeing you again, but I know that you are in heaven with Grandma."

"Onofrio was a second father to me. He was always in a great mood when we were kids. The sleep overs at his home were memorable because he made me feel like I was another son. I had my first Knickerbocker beer with him, and he taught me how to play Italian cards. The trips to all the Feasts, and when his boys moved to Florida, I still went to the house to visit him. When I think back to my childhood, there was not a time that Onofrio was not involved. He was one of the good ones, one that others should learn from. I'm sure that when he got to the Gates, they said,"come on in, you did a great job". He is now with his wonderful wife, and his daughter. God Bless you Onofrio, and thank you for sharing your life with me."
