Katie Medinger, of Random Lake, formerly of Woodruff and Port Washington, passed away Tuesday morning, August 13, 2013 at Harbor Cove. She was 81 years old. Katie was born July 29, 1932 in Port Washington, the daughter of Lallie and Julia Peiffer Keller. On February 14, 1953, she was united in marriage with Harold Medinger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. For 26 years, she worked as an LPN at Heritage Nursing Home in Port Washington. After retirement, she and Harold moved to Woodruff on Bolton Lake where they lived for 16 years. She loved the outdoors and nature, where she tended to her flower gardens, canoed, swam, fished and fed the birds. She also was a great baker, a skilled knitter and sewer, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Katie was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Mary's Chapel in Random Lake. Katie is survived by her loving husband Harold of Random Lake and their children: Jeff (fiancé Laura) of Random Lake, Joel (Sherrie) of San Luis Obispo, CA, Chris (Jacki) of Grafton, Craig (Monica) of West Bend, Lisa (Chris) Hackbarth of Cedarburg and Jill Douglass of Port Washington. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandsons, her brother Allan (Wanda) Keller of Grafton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Wednesday, August 21 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St. in Port Washington. She will be entombed at St. Mary's Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Northwoods Wildlife Center, 8683 Blumenstein Rd., Minocqua, WI 54548. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to be serving the family.The family would like to thank the staffs of Harbor Cove and VITAS Hospice for their dedicated and loving care.
