William J. Norland
April 4, 1942 - August 31, 2013

William John Norland Jr. was born April 4, 1942, in Cylinder, son of William J. and Doris (Jennings) Norland. He grew up in the Lone Rock and Bancroft area graduating high school in 1959 from Amery, Wisconsin.

Bill married Margaret Willey on June 16, 1962, and they were married for 33 years. He drove truck throughout the years mainly for Umthun Trucking, Hankins Trucking, and Crop Production Services. Bill enjoyed competing in many Iowa and national truck rodeos. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, racing, and socializing with his many friends at the Corwith American Legion. He loved spending time with his family.

William J. Norland died Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the West Bend Care Center at the age of 71. He had been a resident there since June, 2012.

He is survived by five children, Kim (Rene) Norland of Algona, Dawn (Troy) Fox of Burt, David (Tracie Foley) Norland of Corwith, Keith (Melanie) Norland of Pleasant Grove, UT, and Renee (Rob) Sinclair of Wesley; 13 grandchildren, Kasondra (Josh) Richter of Wesley, Kyle (Michelle) Norland of Corwith, Emily Norland of Wesley, Jake (Angela) Fox of Titonka, Josh (Tessa) Fox of Lone Rock, Heidi (Orry) Fox of Bancroft, Michael (Megan) Norland of Burt, Taylor, Seth, and Zacary Norland of Burt, Evan and Alex Norland of Pleasant Grove, UT, and Ashley (Stephen) Norland of Algona; two great-grandchildren, Brielle and Jaelyn Fox of Titonka; two step-grandchildren, Heather Schulz and Adam Schulz of Algona; and two step-great-grandchildren, Matthew Runge and Josie Schulz of Algona. He is also survived by his ex-wife Margaret Norland; two sisters, Diana Webb of Fenton and Donna (Richard) Walters of Des Moines; a step-sister, Elaine (Dennis) Pinegar of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Kennedy Norland; and a sister, Rojeanne "Cookie" Monson.
