William G. Wilson
November 30, 1930 - November 9, 2013

William George Wilson, age 82 passed away on November 9, 2013 at Agrace Hospice in Madison after a long battle with life.

Born in Racine on November 30, 1930, Bill was the son of Frank and Ruth Van Peterson Wilson. He graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine in 1949, attended the UW Extension and then transferred to UW Madison. Along with a number of his Racine classmates, Bill was drafted just before his senior year. As a member of Company 19 of the Army Signal Corps, he spent two years installing telephone communications in the Underground Pentagon. Returning to Madison, he graduated with the class of 1955. Bill was then employed as a salesman by Scientific Products, the hospital laboratory arm of the American Hospital Supply Corporation and moved to Wichita, KS to begin his career. He was transferred to Kansas City, KS; Deerfield, IL; and then back to Madison until his retirement 32 years later. Bill enjoyed his job and his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends.

His family and friends will remember his passion for debate, his sense of humor and determined perseverance when life presented him with physical and mental challenges. He was proud of the time he gave to his country, proud of the accomplishments of his son and daughter, and proud of the fine people his grandchildren are becoming.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Eloise of 55 years; son, Bruce Wilson (Julie Guess); daughter, Kristen Halverson (John Lockwood); grandchildren, Kirby, Cameron and Haley Halverson; nieces and nephews, Gretchen Kling (Michael), William Litscher (Barbara), Kurt Litscher (Janet), Patricia Litscher; cousin, Carol Ballentine, and his devoted dog Lizzie. "I met Bill after we both had retired & then decided to learn something about filing income tax forms. We worked together at H&R Block for a couple of years & I guess we both learned all we wanted to know. We & our wives had a few lunches together & all four of us enjoyed the company of the other three. Sorry to see Bill go, but now he is in a much better place"

"I always felt close to the Wilson family. I guess it started with that famous strike party at their house, Then when I was involved in some event, Bill said to Eloise - Is that our Marilyn? And even tho we didn't agree politically, I knew Bill was a great guy! and my thoughts are with his family."
