Harold George Thiel
February 23, 1924 - December 4, 2013

Harold Thiel, age 89 years, formerly of Port Washington and Fredonia, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Samaritan Health Center in West Bend. He was born February 23, 1924 in Town of Fredonia, son of the late William and Elizabeth Wendtland Thiel. On Sept 11, 1947, he married Virginia Watry at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. She preceded him in death in 2002. Mr. Thiel worked as a machinist at Simplicity Mfg. in Port Washington for 40 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredonia and enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. Survivors include his five children Robert (Sandi) Thiel of Fredonia, Harold R. Thiel of West Bend, Gary (Jennifer) Thiel of Beaver Dam, Karen (the late Steve) Konitzer of Manawa and Jeff (Jean Roller) Thiel of Belgium, 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 1 brother in law Vince Weyker, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren and 4 brothers and 7 sisters. Funeral Monday eve. December 9, 7 PM at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fredonia. Burial will be in Waubeka Union Cemetery. In state at the CHURCH Monday from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church appreciated. "It has been decades since I last visited with Harold. As a young employee at Simplicity I remember his peaceful and jolly nature. I recall him generously sharing the sweet corn crop in season or the card games during lunch times. Bobby has kept me in the loop with some of our acquaintances at Simplicity. God's Peace to the whole family and network of people Harold has touched over the years."
