"My father Lou and Gene shared many conversations in the many years they both were blessed to have, ranging from war stories to everyday occurances. They also had a few manhattens and old fashions on their journey. I believe my dad introduced Gene to the art of drinking manhattens, which he picked up on very quickly. Gene will be missed but not forgotten"

"From just one of the numerous Port Washington natives who knew and respected Gene, my deepest condolences. I posted a blurb on the I Grew Up in Port Washington Facebook page (where the subject of Port's "minor" bars comes up regularly), regarding his passing and there are many follow-up postings sharing memories of Gene and his years at Cedar Beach. Seems a good many romances were ignited there and still burn brightly!!"
