EUGENE J. PIERRON "GENE"
Mr. Gene Pierron, of the Town of Belgium, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, December 11, 2013. He was 89 years old. Gene was born on the family farm in the Town of Belgium on June 7, 1924, son of Nicholas and Johanna Mayer Pierron. He attended local schools before starting to farm. Gene proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII. On September 16, 1950 he was united in marriage with Ethel Zausch at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple settled on the farm and started their family. Gene farmed the family land with help from his nephew Bill Janeshek. Mr. Pierron was a lifetime member of Divine Savior Parish as well as being a member of American Legion Post 412 and VFW Post 5373. In his younger days Gene ran The Beach Bar (currently Cedar Beach Bar), and later was a custodian at Ozaukee High School for 11 years. Gene enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, woodworking, watching baseball and socializing. He volunteered to drive veterans to the VA in Milwaukee for 28 years, donated blood and often helped deliver Military Honors at funerals for local veterans. Mr. Pierron also enjoyed going to the reunions for the 69th Infantry Division and keeping in touch with his fellow members. Gene is survived by his wife, Ethel, and their six children: William Pierron of Plymouth, Jeffrey Pierron of Belgium, Patricia Jean (Greg) Huettner of Grafton, Paul (Vicki) Pierron of Random Lake, John (Paula) Pierron of Belgium, Jodi (Bret) Buechler of Oostburg and the late Dennis Pierron. He is further survived by 12 grandchildren, brother Francis (Barb) Pierron of Saukville, 3 sisters: Lorraine (Jack) Tackes of Hawaii, LaVerne (Ken) Cornish of Arizona and Gladys (Ralph) Schmidt of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son Dennis, 2 brothers: Robert Pierron and Fr. Joseph Pierron, and sister Elaine Chambers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7PM at Divine Savior- Holy Cross (5332 Hwy B, Town of Belgium) on Tuesday, December 17. Father Jim Ernster will preside. He will be inurned at Holy Cross Cemetery the following morning with Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 3-7PM.

Seems a good many romances were ignited there and still burn brightly!!"
