"Dad, or as I called him, Chuckie Balboa, near the end, was my SWEETHEART! From the day I met him on December 27, 1977, he liked me! I knew him before I knew his son...who eventually became my husband! He had a HUGE influence on the man my husband is today and for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart! Dad was a HUGE ROMANTIC and was SO IN LOVE with my mother-in-law, it was absolutely AMAZING! I'm not sure if I've EVER seen a love that deep. Even at the end when he couldn't make rational conversation or know who people were, he ALWAYS KNEW HER! He'd call her his BEAUTIFUL BRIDE, right up to the day he could no longer speak! He'd reach to hold her hand and look at her with SUCH LOVE in his eyes, that that pure tenderness and love will stay with me FOREVER! Those are the things that he taught his son, Chuck. They let their love show and be felt and seen, and for that I owe him a lifetime of gratitude! That's a GREAT thing to teach your sons...how to show their love for another! I adore my father-in-law, and I say that in a present tense, cuz I will adore him til I take MY last breath! Rest In Peace, Dad. I'll love you forever!"

Charles 'Chuck' Boehm, 81, of Pembroke Pines, FL, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on December 19. Born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1932, Chuck was a proud Korean War Army veteran who moved to Florida in 1964 and worked for Eastern Airlines until 1991. He then worked for the City of Pembroke Pines Recreation Department until he retired in 2001. Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia, sons Charles and James, daughter-in-law Elayne (Wallach) Boehm, brother Robert Boehm of Delmont, PA, 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024 (PH: 954-989-1550). A memorial Mass to celebrate Chuck's life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Saint David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, FL 33328. Interment will be at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Chuck's memory to either of his two favorite charitable organizations, the James Jr Fund (PH:954-739-8335) or The Prestige Club (PH:954-617-6210).

"I have too many favorite memories, but one I have related several times is when I was a Cub Scout. We had a sailing regatta for model boats. I needed to make a keel and rudder for my boat, so instead of making due with household goods, my dad asked a machinist at Easter Airlines to cut the parts I needed from 7075 aircraft aluminum using a plasma cutter. I had some high tech parts on my little boat. Dad had gone above and beyone. Miss you Dad!"
