"Oh Mary, my heart is heavy for you and your family. You know that we all loved Gary on the 8th floor. Not a single staff member did you guys not touch. Gary was one of the most friendly, talkative and charming person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and caring for. I know that Gary is causing a raucous up in heaven, spreading his joy and stories and laughter. He will be missed. I am glad his heart is at peace and that you and your family had time at home with him. Sending love and hugs! I'm sorry I can not be there for the services, but I am there in spirit! Take care my dear! "

"When you think of being a youth leader, you don't necessarily think of chaperoning a fellow leader as one of the tasks but then not everyone is blessed to serve with a man like Gary. Gary embodied the concept that being a Christian is fun. So many memories have been made working with him on mission trips, canoeing, corn mazes and weekly meetings-memories that make me smile and laugh aloud which is exactly what Gary would be doing. Working with him wasn't really a task, it was a wonderful experience. I expect to catch up with him and wonderful new stories in heaven."

Jim Pearce wrote on Jan 16, 2014:

"When I moved to Middletown and did not know anyone I joined the Sr. Men's Golf League at Weatherwax. All the new faces and names were at times over whelming. Gary was the first one to introduce him self to me and went out of his way to make me feel welcome. He never missed a week to make sure that I learned the "ropes" so to speak, and to make sure that I was included the group. We became fast friends and my only regret is that he will no longer be there to make us all feel apart of something and to laugh, laugh, and laugh! I will always miss his little dance when he made a really good put. I will be putting a roll of quarters in his casket so that when he gets to heaven he will have some money to pay golf with all his friends that have preceded him. "

Carolyn Maples wrote on Jan 16, 2014:

"Our son Jim went to school with Gary and Mary's son Darren and they played baseball together so as parents we remember socializing with the family and rejoice in knowing he is in his heavenly home. Sincerely Chuck & Carolyn Maples"

Curtis & Susan Smith Glisson wrote on Jan 16, 2014:

"I remember Gary fondly when the family attended First Baptist in Franklin years ago. Gary was known fondly as the "crying christian" as he loved to share his faith and lead others to Christ. He loved attending church camp as one of the leaders of the group. His son graduated in "84" from Springboro high school the same year as I did from Franklin. There isn't enough space or time for me to recall all the fond memories I have of him or his family. All I can say is the passing of this wonderful christian man is Heaven's gain. Rest in peace Gary till someday we all who are believer's in Christ will see you again. Mary, Todd, & Sherry and family...I don't know if you remember me from FBC in Franklin, (Harry & Ruth Smith's daughter), my parents I'm sure welcome Gary along with many former members of FBC who knew him and have since passed on with open arms. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing and I pray God will surround all of you and grant you peace in the day's ahead as you grieve of his passing but rejoice in knowing He is no longer suffering but resting in the arms of our Lord. "

"Will always remember our little league days. Even later in our years we would stand on the sidelines of the girls softball games yelling at the umpires. God bless you Gary now God will have to listen to your correct calls. Rest in Peace my friend"
