Jeffrey C. Kraft, 28, of Bloomfield, NE passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at a Sioux Falls, SD hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the ZCBJ Hall, Main Street, Verdigre, NE. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh, NE. Visitation with the family present will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the ZCBJ Hall in Verdigre. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.
Jeffrey was born in Neligh, NE on December 25, 1985, the son of John "LJ" and Jodi (Finch) Kraft. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Venus, NE and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Verdigre, NE. As a young man, Jeff earned the rank of "Eagle Scout" with the Boy Scouts. He participated in football, golf, basketball and FFA before graduating from Verdigre Public School in 2004. After graduation, Jeff attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk. He married Carrie Cook at the Ponca State Park in rural Ponca, NE on August 28, 2009. He was most recently a farm hand in the Bloomfield area. He attended the UNL LEAD program for two years, which gave him the opportunity to take a three week trip to Europe. He was also a Delegate for Nebraska with the Pork Producers.
Jeff was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Verdigre. He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, bull riding, playing baseball and other outdoor activities.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Kraft of Bloomfield, NE; children, Brooklyn Kraft of Elberta, Alabama, and Koy, Dawson and Rhett Kraft of Bloomfield, NE; his parents, John "LJ" (Sandy) Kraft of Dorchester, NE and Jodi (Larry) Wiese of Verdigre, NE; in-laws, Mark and Gina Cook of Ponca, NE; siblings, Jamie (Tiffany) Kraft of Lincoln, NE, Amie (Phillip) Kroese of Fruita, CO, Cami (Derrick) Kemp of Norfolk, NE, Taylor (Dacey) Kraft of Battle Creek, NE, Quinton Hessheimer of Lincoln, NE, Lindsey (Damon) Barr of Waverly, NE, Terry Wiese of Lincoln, NE and Calvin (Amy) Wiese of San Clemente, CA; brother-in-law Zack (Amanda) Cook of Wayne, NE; grandparents, Gloria Finch of Norfolk, NE, Vonda Kraft of Neligh, NE and Dave and Delores Wiese of Lindsay, NE; grandmother-in-law, Hilde Zach of Pierce, NE; Goddaughter, Haven Kemp of Norfolk, NE; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John B. Kraft, Jr. and Clarence Finch, Jr.; and one cousin, Brady Kraft.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.
