Jean Thorpe Seidel, 85, passed away January 27, 2014 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Survivors include her three sons and one daughter, Rev. Douglas Seidel, Bruce Seidel, Barbara Seidel, and Stuart Seidel; grandchildren, Sean Seidel, Brittany Holdbrook Nicolette, Haley Seidel, Jocelyn Holdbrook and Hogan Seidel; cousins, Helen Cassano and Edward Becker, as well as nieces, nephew and extended family.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, Horace Y. Seidel III, her grandson Brian Seidel, and her brother Burton Thorpe.
Jean was born in 1928 in Mt. Vernon, New York to Edwin and Ruth Thorpe, and grew up in Amityville, New York. She graduated from Brooklyn Hospital School of Nursing where she met her husband, Dr. Horace Seidel. They married November 5, 1948.
They resided in Easton, Pennsylvania for 25 years. They moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1974 where Jean and Horace were active members of St. John's Lutheran Church. Jean was also active in the Hollywood Scholarship Foundation and the local Orchid Society.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Florida, followed by a service to begin at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:30. Her son, Reverend Douglas Thorpe Seidel will officiate.
