GEORGE W. SHULTIS
Town of Port Washington resident George W. Shultis was sent to heaven to sing in God's choir on March 6, 2014. He was 83 years old. George was born in Janesville on February 15, 1931, son of John and Myrle Buss Shultis. Following his schooling, he proudly served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electrician, and attained a rank of Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in December 1954 and moved to Marietta, GA, to work for Lockhead Martin. He moved to Milwaukee in the mid 1950's and on December 31, 1956 was united in marriage with Shirley Young Schulz. George took a position with Automatique Services America in Milwaukee and retired in 1992 after 38 years. In 1976 the family moved to Port Washington. Shirley preceded him in death on March 23, 1993. He filled some of his time driving limo and also driving school bus for Johnson Bus Company. On August 8, 1997 he married Barbara McElroy. George loved life, playing cards, gardening and traveling. He had a beautiful voice and a smile that would light up your day. He was a loving father to the couples blended family of 15 children and numerous grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife and best friend, Barb, their children: Larry Schulz of West Allis, Lana Turgeon of Cascade, Lisa (James) Paulsen of Hartland, Linda (Ron) Bright of Bridgeport, NE, Loren "George" (Diana) Shultis of Belgium, Leah (Steven) Godersky of Manitowoc, Lon "Greg" (Wendi) Shultis of Port Washington, Lori (Tim) Foth, also of Manitowoc, Lee (Sheila) Shultis, also of Port Washington, Ralph and William Datka of Ladysmith, Elizabeth (Harland) Wegner of Centerville, MN, Mathew Datka of Sharon, Cathy Datka of Dunnellon, FL and John (Cheryl) Datka of Dousman, 70 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild who is expected to arrive in August. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, sons Lester Schulz and Mark Datka, daughter Linay Summers, grandchildren Cheryl Paulsen and Ryan Summers, sister Ardeth Brandenburg and brothers Milton and William Shultis. A Celebration of Life, including Military Honors, will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 22nd at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
