She and good friends traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe during the early years of her retirement. "When I was a teenager and Barbara was a neighbor that I saw as a beautiful mystery. She is still a beautiful person who survived through all sorts of adversity. Her brother-in-law, Mike, was and is a special friend, and my sympathy goes to him in particular as well as the rest of the family."
