GARNER - Daniel L. Farris, 55, of Garner died Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Concord Care Center in Garner.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 13th at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner with Pastor Scott Kozisek officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Beverly Cataldo who will accompany soloist, Warren Torkelson, and a congregational hymn. Ushers will be Don Purcell and Earl Jaspersen. Casket bearers will be David Moen, John Leegaard, Randy Leegaard, Tyler Flugum, Richard Lynch, Dan Lenz and Ed Martin. Burial will be in Concord Township Cemetery in Garner.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M., Tuesday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. 4th St., in Garner and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's charity of choice.
Daniel Laverne Farris, the son of Laverne Farris and Marilyn (Leegaard) Schnoor, was born April 16, 1959 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He attended school in Albert Lea, Forest City and Garner. Dan lived in Garner and worked in the North Iowa area. On April 23, 1983 he married Cheryl Schlei in Garner. He enjoyed his family, watching John Wayne movies, puzzles, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garner.
Dan is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Garner; father, Sonny Farris (Janice Peterson) of Clear Lake; three children Cody (Eliza) Farris of Garner and daughter, Taylor, Tracy (Frank) Marshall of Klemme and two sons, Ben and Nate, Craig (Linda) Meints of Goodell and two children, Anna (Arthur) Finzen and Amy Skogerboe; two great grandchildren; siblings, Diane (Jeff) Schmidt of Garner, Donna (Randy) Saltou of Glenville, MN, Kelly McDonough of Des Moines, Sonny, Jr. (Connie) Farris of Ventura, Nikki Flugum of Forest City, Mike (Malissa) Schnoor of Texas, Dawn Nedved (Melvin Wellik) of Britt, Barb (Bob) Parka of Colorado and Lori (Jim) Winter of Mankato, MN; step-father, Del Schnoor of Albert Lea, MN; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
