"I want to say on behalf of the PKB station, and those who worked with Bob here at our station, we are truly sorry to hear of his passing. I remember inviting Bob to my farm, and I introduced him to four-wheelers; it was a fun afternoon. Also, I remember him pulling pranks against another pilot Bill Copeland. They would see what they could do to each others cars in the parking lot while the other was out flying. He was always kind to me, and I will never forget him. May he rest in peace."

Renee Severson (née Hofmann) wrote on Sep 4, 2014:

"My deepest and heart felt condolences to Bob's dad, brothers, sisters, extended family, friends and everyone that was touched by his life. I went to middle and high school with Bob and graduated with him in 1983."

Dorothy Kirkpatrick wrote on Sep 4, 2014:

"I am a colleague of Bob's at Netjets. We flew together several times and he was a kindred spirit, always helping and so kind. I saw him last week in Teterboro, and gave him a big hug, once again thanking him for the kindness he showed years ago to my Sister Judy when they were in a car accident. I am stunned and so sad to hear of his passing. We will miss him dearly. Rest in Peace, dear Bob."

"Bob and I met through my role with our Union. He had a great perspective on life in general, and on things going on within our Company. Maybe it was all the fishing and the other time spent outdoors, but he just had a great perspective on life. I always appreciated his reality checks! Bob, you will be missed! RIP"

"Kyle Brickson I first met Bob about 15 years ago when he called me out of the blue for Muskie fishing. We both worked for Netjets and had heard I guided for muskies in Minnesota. We spent two days on the water and he caught one fish each day. He was a real pleasure to spend time on the water with. During our days he asked me " if you could be one place and Muskie fish where would that be?" I told him, "Lake of the Woods"...at the time I figured it was a rhetorical question . Bob ended up basically spending ever summer there from that day forward. About a year ago we spent a week flying together for Netjets....again, what a pleasure!! We have so much in common. I will miss you Bob!!"

"I first met "Bob the pilot" many years ago as a guiding client for muskies on the Lake of the Woods. As time went on we became close personal fishing buddies and spent many enjoyable days together on the water and at the cabin. He'll be greatly and unexpectedly missed. I hope there a big one on your line right now. God speed BTP. Doug.."

"I first met Roberto, as I called him, when he was introduced to me by my best friend Michael. They met at Alameda Navel Air Station, where they were both assigned; Bob in the Navy and Mike with the Justice Department. Seems that Bob wanted to become an airline pilot and as I was flying for PSA/US Airways I offered to help. Bob never forgot that and was forever thanking me and offering to fix things for me as I don't know how. He also offered to take me hunting and fishing until I finally convinced him that my idea of the great outdoors was a sidewalk cafe. On his last visit to us in Hollywood last year, he stayed with my wife Cristina and I for several days while he was looking for a motorcycle to buy. We had a wonderful time with fabulous dinners, trying to fix one of my cars and observing one of Bob's hobbies and attributes, breaking women's hearts; in this case Cristina's friend Mary. He was truly one of the brightest intellects that I have ever met. He once shared a test for me to pass on to another aspiring pilot that I was helping, reciting 48 of the 50 questions verbatim several days after taking the exam! We are all still in shock and disbelief. I last spoke with him a week ago discussing the callback at Net-Jets. Roberto you are truly missed we salute you as a dear friend and fellow warrior and will be seeing you soon in Valhalla. "

"Bob and I were roommates in college and never lost touch. Called weekly to brief about stuff that happened at his job and mine, tried to return his call last Friday. Last saw Bob this past May in Phoenix, went to a K1 track and tore it up. Almost got kicked out for running everyone over trying to run into each other! It is honor to have called you my "Friend", until we meet again, Adios Amigo! Rest In Peace, "CHIEF"............."

"My thoughts are with Bob's friends and family. I am a co-worker of Bob's (flight attendant), he was always very helpful to me - which I always appreciated. I am saddened to hear of this loss, but I do know Bob is in a better place. Wonderful memories..."

James Owen wrote on Sep 3, 2014:

"JL Owen, Netjets Bob and I flew together several times. We'd swap fish stories and of course me being from Texas he would tell me I was just telling "tall tales". Most of the time I was. He told me to get out of the Galveston Bay and come up north. He would teach me how to really fish. Then I would make up another far fetched fish story Texans are know to do, and he'd just laugh. Bob was a good stick, and a good friend. It was my privilege and honor to have flown with him. For now, so long Bob. One day we will meet again, and laugh again. And, I'll have the Biggest fish story you ever heard. Blue Sky and Tailwinds Buddy "

"I am a flight attendant with NetJets and a few years ago was with Bob when we were in a car accident on the way to our hotel after a day of flying. After being transported to the hospital Bob wouldn't leave me until he was sure I would not be alone. His caring and concern will always stay with me. I too, am saddened by his sudden passing and send my prayers of peace to his family and friends. Rest in peace Bob."

"I am a co-worker of Bob's from NetJets....we have worked together since he started in 1998. I am a Flight Dispatcher on the Falcon aircraft that he flew. I too am shocked at his passing and saddened. I can still hear his voice on the other end of the phone calling in to discuss a problematic flight or change a fuel load. Then we would chat and catch up. My heart goes out to all of his family and friends.....Warmly, Mindi Ventola"

"I am shocked and saddened by Bob's passing. He was an independent spirit. I remember how, early in his flying career (about 25 years ago), he flew us over the Bay Area at night in a small aircraft -- the prettiest view imaginable. I also remember how proud he was to share his professional portrait when Mom passed five years ago. I'm grateful that he was able to spend time fishing with Dad recently. I'm so sorry, Dad. "
