Mona Kay Eastman
September 6, 1939 - September 28, 2014

Mona K. Eastman, 75, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, September 28, 2014, at her home in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Mona on Wednesday, October 1, 2014, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the gathering and burial will be at a later date in the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

Mona Kay McPherson was born on September 6, 1939 in Jackson County, Iowa, to Kenneth Owen and Hazel Irene (Manning) McPherson. She was a graduate of Maquoketa High School. She married John Earnest Eastman on February 18, 1961 in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Mona had worked for many years as a teller and later as branch manager for the former Jackson State Bank and Hawkeye Bank in Maquoketa.

Mona was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club in Maquoketa. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was talented at needlepoint. She had won several awards through the years at the local fair showcasing her work.

Those left to honor Mona's memory include her husband John Eastman of Maquoketa, IA; a son, Richard Owen (Suzanne) Eastman of Phoenix, AZ; a step-daughter, Susan Ann Lorey of Rockwell, TX; 4 grandchildren; a sister Esther Taylor of Maquoketa, IA; and a sister-in-law Margaret McPherson of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, and brothers Paul and Garry.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
