It is with profound regret that we announce the death of Vincent George Lubsey, MD, who died October 4, 2014 while on vacation in Costa Rica. Vin, as he was known by family and friends, was the son of Franklyn Lubsey, Sr. and Icilda Lubsey (nee Dunbar). He entered the world in Content, Manchester (Jamaica, West Indies) on July 11, 1943, to be greeted by his eldest brother Carl. He in turn was able to greet his other siblings Johnny, Norma, Margaret and Franklyn Jr.
Franklyn Lubsey, Sr. was in the employ of the Jamaica Railway Corporation and due to the nature of his work, the family moved frequently throughout the island. Vin excelled athletically, specifically in Track and Football (Soccer) resulting in a lively youth while attending schools such as Saint Jago High School, Titchfield High School and, ultimately, Kingston College. Under the guidance of his mother and aunt, Mabel Lubsey Brown, he was expected to excel academically. It was with their urging, and quite possibly coercion, that he traveled to the United States to complete his education.
Vin completed his undergraduate studies at Howard University and went on to earn his medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine. While in Washington, DC, he surrounded himself with a small contingent of fellow Jamaicans, who like him, became successful in their areas of specialty. This group comprise some of his closest friends, who are more like family and who were present at his marriage to Bonnie Lubsey (nee Gray). This new Lubsey family expanded with the births of Vincent, Jr., Andrew and Erika.
After completing his medical training, the family relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where Vin began an independent Family Medicine practice. This endeavor has grown into the Lubsey Medical Center, as we now know it. During the near forty years since he began practice, Vin has gone through many significant events regarding his family, health and practice. The latter part of those years were spent with his now ex-wife Deborah and stepsons, Kristopher and Kyle.
Throughout his 71 years, he touched the lives of so many--family, friends, patients, and more often than not, strangers who never had the opportunity to know him.
It is most certainly sad to have lost him so unexpectedly, but we look forward to celebrating him and his legacy. The family would like to offer friends and family the opportunity to pay their respects. We will have an extended visitation at the Krause Funeral Home located on 9000 West Capitol Drive on October 23, 2014, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM. We would like to reserve the hours of 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for those individuals who are elderly, in nursing homes or those who may require more assistance. The remaining hours will be for anyone desiring to see him one last time.
Memorial services will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM, with a short viewing from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
A contribution may be made, in lieu of flowers, to his high school alma maters.

"Simply put, I was making an appointment for my mother and saw his obituary. I made the mistake of reading it and looking at his picture again and again. Simply put, having known this man and his family for almost 40 years, breaking bread and sharing laughs, I now have a hole in my soul that will never be filled."

"Dr. Lubsey was my doctor after my son was born in 1980. He came to a my brothers house to meet with a small group of new parents, my brother included me. That's when he became my doctor especially for my son.
I really loved him as a doc. Since all of you became his patients, it was hard to get in to see him without waiting all day. He would see everyone and I mean everyone. I just learned today of his passing. I will miss him and that beautiful smile. My sympathies to all of his family.

"I'm in absolute shock, I don't know how I'll ever be able to trust a doctor like I trusted him. Dr. Lubsey was my friend, he gave me his cell number so that I could contact him when ever. I never really trusted any of the other doctors opinions. He made me laugh when I wanted to cry and told me I was stubborn and didn't follow any of his instructions, but I did, little did he know. I'm gonna miss you so very much. Praying for your family. I can't imagine how they feel. I thought you be around forever. I was saddened when he told me he was retiring, but felt good about his daughter being around. He told me she'll take care of you, don't worry. I guess he'll be smiling down on me when I walk in to see her. My heart is broken. The greatest doctor ever."

"The last time I saw Vin was some years ago when he came to California and I invited him to my place and I cooked ackee and saltfish and talked and laughed about both our past years. We spoke about the years when I visited his Aunt in May Pen where she owned and operated a pharmacy. She was the one that shaped Vin to his educational endeavours. When I received the news about Vin I was in total shock,I texted two of his close friends Noel Tait and Tony Keyes, all three attended Howard U,and they both were floored by the news.Vin was a funny guy and never saw him upset, always saw him with a smile.Anytime I had medical problem I would call him and he always had time to listen.Vin never had to brag to anyone as to who he was and what he did as a professional. We will surely miss you, rest in peace.Dennis Anderson "

"Dr. Vincent G. Lubsey was and is one of the most amazing men that I have ever met. I have been an employee of his for three years and since the day I started I felt more like his daughter/ granddaughter then his employee. I considered him another grandpa and he was someone I could talk to and ask for advice because he had so much wisdom. I have never met a man who has played such a large and inspiring role in so many peoples lives. I see how much he has given back to this community and I can only hope that I am able to give back as much as he did. My life is better since meeting him and it will never be the same without him here. I love you Dr. Lubsey and may you rest in peace. "

Being most personal, professional and outright understanding, and to the point on every visit that I ever had with him. Dr. Lubsey never rushed his time with me or any of his patients. I entrusted him with my life and to this point he has been a beacon in sustaining this life that I have. Dr. Lubsey, you are and forever will be cherished in my life and missed ever so greatly. God Bless your Family, Friends and Successors.

"I remember as his patient his concern for my high cholesterol. Over a three year period it kept going up. Finally he looked at me at a test results meeting and said "John you can eat to live, or you can eat to die".
These words and the sincerity that he spoke them with is one of the reasons I am here today, I started eating to live."

"Vin and I became close friends in Port Antonio from age 12 years old. He loved spending time in the sea. We left Tichfield High School to go to Kingston College, me first and he after, and we have remained friends since then even though we embarked on different paths in Life.
We had the pleasure to meet and greet old school mates "The Class of 1962" in November 2012 at our reunion at my home in Jamaica, we had known each other for over 57 years.
Vin was a Gentleman, and a decent man, the ladies loved him and he loved them, a passion we shared, and he would tell some of them that we were brothers since we bore a noticeable resemblance to each other.
Vin was a good friend to his friends.
Vin will be missed.
May his Soul Rest in Peace and Light Perpetual shine on him and I pray that the "Comforter", The Holy Spirit promised by Jesus Christ, will comfort his Family, loved ones and friends at this time of Loss and grief.

"I first met Vin at Kingston College, then we reconnected a few years later while attending Howard University in Washington, D.C. I last saw him at his 60th birthday celebration, held not too far from Moneague in St. Ann, Jamaica, and I can clearly recall making the effort to attend that function because I wanted to see Vin, who, at that time, I had not seen for many years. I found him to be a genuinely friendly, jovial and decent human being. I extend deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
