Lois Marie Studer, daughter of John and Anna (Schmidt) Krug, Sr., was born August 26, 1927 in West Bend, Iowa. She was a graduate of West Bend High School.

On March 4, 1946, Lois was united in marriage to John P. Studer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard. Shortly after John's service in the United States Army, the couple made their home on a farm near Graettinger, Iowa.

Lois helped John on the farm, where she raised her four children. She enjoyed the outdoors, and she spent many hours working in her flower and vegetable garden. Lois was an avid sports and Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed going to her children and grandchildren's sport events. She liked to spend time reading, cooking and doing needlework. She loved cooking and made many Sunday meals to have everyone gather at the kitchen table. More than anything, Lois loved her family and treasured the time she spent with all of them.

On Saturday, December 6, 2014, Lois passed away at her home in Graettinger.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Gene Studer (Lauri), Karen Anderson (Wayne) and Sue McCain all of Graettinger and Gerald Studer (Lori) of Denison, Iowa.; two brothers-in-law: Bob Studer (Peggy) of Plover, Iowa and John Shirk of Emmetsburg; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and her cousins: Rosabelle Johnson of Emmetsburg and Viola Studer of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; four brothers: Clarence, Ben, Dutch, and John Krug, Jr.; two sisters: Peg Girres and Mary Prentice; and an infant brother, Charles.

"Lois and (John) were always known as good friends to my parents (Betty and Delbert Thomsen) for many years. My mother talk about Lois like a sister and the smiles that came to my parents faces when I would hear the stories at the supper table or Sunday dinner. Lois's friendship to my Mother and John's stories of tools and farming to my Dad. They both were very special to my parents and in subsequent telephone calls I had with Lois she had good memories of my parents as well. God Bless and thank you to Karen for the letter telling me of this sad moment. Jim Thomsen"
