WINTERSET, Iowa -- Steven Dwayne Roberts, 53, of Winterset, died on Sunday, January 18, 2015, in Des Moines.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2015, at O'Leary Celebration of Life Center - Funeral Services, 1020 Main Street, Norwalk, Iowa 50211. To order flowers for the service from O'Leary's Flowers please call 515) 981-0700.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the funeral home with the family.

Steven was born June 17, 1961, in Des Moines, the son of Larry Dwayne Roberts and Donna Marie (nee: Waters) Lind. Steve's parents moved to Muscatine when he was young. There he attended Louisa-Muscatine High School, graduating in 1979. Steve married his high school sweetheart, Karla Ann Finley, at Fruitland Baptist Church on June 28, 1980. To this union they had three sons, Dustin, Derek, and Darren.

Steve was a self-employed business man until moving to Des Moines in 1985 to work as an auto salesman. He sold cars for 26 years until starting a new business with his wife, Karla, R & R Cleaning Services, cleaning new residential homes.

Steve enjoyed woodworking, fly-fishing, riding his motorcycles, sitting on the beach, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Steve and Karla are members of DeSoto Calvary Baptist Church.

Last February Steve was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer. During this time Steve underwent several treatments. He continued to live life to the fullest by visiting his family in Montana, built a cabin on his acreage for his grandsons, traveled with Karla and family to the British Virgin Islands, went deer hunting, and had a great holiday with family and friends.
Those left to cherish Steven's memory are his wife of 34 years, Karla of Winterset; three sons, Dustin (Sonia) of Des Moines, Derek (Christina) of Kalispell, Montana, and Darren (Shannon) of Des Moines; his parents, Larry (Sherry) of Adel, Iowa, Donna Lind of Albia, Iowa; two brothers, Kevin (Leanne) of Kalispell, Montana, and Mark (Laura) of Woodward; and five grandsons, Parker, Gage, Karson, Finn, and Ryder.

Preceding him in death were his grandparents; a sister, Kim Roberts; and his step-father, James Lind.
