WILTON, Iowa -- Alberta Jane Kirby, 92, of Wilton, died on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Lutheran Living of Muscatine.

Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton Memorial donations may be made in her memory to First Presbyterian Church or Sunset Housing, both in Wilton.

Alberta was born on November 23, 1922, in Davenport, the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle Harter Boyd. She married Gene M. Kirby on July 29, 1943.

Alberta worked for the Davenport Public Museum, then later as an Assistant Housing Officer for the Rock Island Arsenal.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilton, the Older Iowans Legislature, board member of Sunset Housing, former president of the Wilton/Durant Food Pantry, board member of the Wilton Historical Society and past president of the Wilton American Legion Auxiliary. She received an Iowa State Volunteerism Award from former Gov. Tom Vilsack.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Kirby of Wilton; her children, Dana Kirby of Bettendorf, and Mark Kirby and wife, Patricia, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her grandson, Joseph Kirby and wife, Krissy, of Lincoln, Nebraska; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
