"So many memories, our boat trips with Steve and Sue and you and Gary. The wonderful meals that we put together even when we had our much smaller boats, especially Gary's ribs. Around Chrismas Gary would deliver his home made Cinammon bread, so delicious. He was a great bread maker among many other things. Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss and wish that I could be there today to Celebrate Gary's life. "

"Gary "..and the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live." (Lyrics from Bette Midler's rendition of The Rose.) In reflection we realize that our beloved Gary would have no regrets as far as living his life to the fullest. Whether in a duck blind, a deer stand, on a snowmobile, or smiling while cooking up a feast for all the people he loved and cherished. He always had the contagious smile that seemed to make everyone around him happy and grateful for being in his presence. What greater way of being remembered? In so many ways we can all learn something from him. Sometimes its easy to succumb to the dismal future painted before us. I am sure Gary is one of those unique people wishing us to keep things in perspective. The importance of family. What a great gift he gave us all in this respect. Within the circle of life the question must be asked, "What truly is important?" Is it the political indifferences that are allowed to occupy so much of our time? Is it the negative thoughts we harbor concerning our lack of acceptances to our different opinions. I could go on and on but the point is made. Think of Gary's smile, lack of complaints, love of family and traditions, and learn from it. Try not to be so sad. Gary is not. Right now he is looking down with Uncle Ernie, Aunt Mary Jane, Tom and Peggy and all of our loved ones; chuckling and asking, "Why the tears? Some day they will all understand." I will miss you Gary and will always love you. Because of you my eyes and heart are more open. Love to all, Binky"

"Our sincere sympathy to Barbara and the entire family. We will always remember Gary for his love of a good time! We certainly had a grand time in Antarctica along with Kathie and Mike. Also, loved time spent on Boss Lady with Louise and Pat as well in Barbara & Gary's lovely new home in Phelps! Gary certainly loved being in the outdoors.....he had all the play things and enjoyed them all throughout the seasons. We will miss Gary with his warm smile and gentle personality."

Sue wrote on Mar 30, 2015:

"I'll always remember Gary for his contagious smile, his passion for life and his ability to make people feel good about themselves. When I was a little girl he used to tease me but never in a way that made me feel bad or sad. He was such a gentle soul and I will miss him so very much. He was a family treasure and no family get together will ever be the same without him. "

"My condolences to the family. Know that the Bible is a great source of comfort at times such as this. A comforting thought is at Rev. 21:4 which states: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Also at Acts 24:15 and John 5:28,29 we are assured of the resurrection. May Jehovah give you comfort and peace now and in the days ahead."
