Elsie Marie Rasmussen, 91 of Waterbury, NE passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE with Rev. Dr. Klaus Raab officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery in rural Allen, NE. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M., with the family present at 5:30 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE.
Elsie was born November 26, 1923 at Meadow Grove, NE, the daughter of Franz and Agnes (Feldman) Weerts. She was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tilden, NE on December 23, 1923. She moved with her parents and sisters to rural Bigelow, MN at the age of three months. She was confirmed June 5, 1938 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. She graduated from Bigelow High School in 1942 and N.W. Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN in 1944. She was employed as a Lab and X-ray Technician in hospitals in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and Sioux City Methodist Hospital prior to her marriage. Elsie married Clifford Rasmussen on August 29, 1948 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. She worked part-time jobs for the U.S. Census Bureau, at Atokad Park, the Dixon County Assessor's Office and as a seamstress at the Country Girl Bridal Shop.
Elsie enjoyed spending her entire married life on the farm in rural Waterbury. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the LWML in Martinsburg, NE. Elsie especially enjoyed baking, gardening and entertaining her family.
Survivors include her husband, Cliff of Waterbury, NE; son, Wayne and his wife, Louise of Omaha, NE; daughter, Linda and her husband, Ron Reiser of Grand Island, NE; five grandchildren, Matthew (Amanda) Reiser, Chad (Jenny) Rasmussen, Amy (Tim) O'Neill, Eric (Danielle) Rasmussen and Sara (Michael) Breetzke; eleven great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Weerts.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Franz and Agnes Weerts; sisters Irene (Willis) Nevill and Wilma (Walden) Lulow; brother, Alvin Weerts; and brother-in-law Irvin (Irene) Rasmussen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
