Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 16, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in Evergreen Cemetery, Emmetsburg. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Kenneth Aaron Webb, son of Roy E. and Mildred E. (Lee) Webb, was born February 8, 1943 in Summersville, MO. He was a 1960 graduate of Stuart High School. On November 23, 1961, Ken was united in marriage to Rose Cook in Stuart, IA.
Ken began his construction career working for Skow Construction and Skip Higley. He was an expert brick layer, and in 1973, Ken started Ken's Construction Services in Emmetsburg. He founded Institutional Equipment Incorporated (I.E.I.) in 1979. Ken's business employed many people in Palo Alto County, and in 2004, Ken retired and sold his business. During his retirement, Ken stayed busy working at KW Electric in Emmetsburg.
Ken was one of the original economic developers of Emmetsburg. He served on the Airport Commission, and he was co-founder of the Taildragger Club. He was also one of the founders of the Five-Islanders Camping Club. Ken was past-president of the Iowa/Nebraska Chapter of Architectural Woodwork Institute (A.W.I.), and he served on several national committee's for A.W.I. He was a long-time member of the UCC Congregational Church, and later attended First United Methodist Church, and he was an active member of Rotary International for many years.
Ken treasured the time he spent with his family. He loved playing cards, flying his plane, camping and traveling. Ken enjoyed woodworking and carpentry .
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose of Emmetsburg; two sons: Jeffrey (Rhea) of Cylinder, IA and Michael (Michelle) of Spirit Lake, IA; daughter, Deb Russell (Scott) of Ankeny, IA; brother, William Webb (Mary) of Pharr, TX; nine grandchildren: Niki Ayers (Todd), Stephanie Huberty, Erin Biller (Ryan), Schuyler Webb (Tiffany), Alexander Webb (Jessica Phillips), Sam Adams, Morgan Michael Webb, Logan and Josh Russell; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Charlene Gibson (Herb) of Stuart, IA and a brother-in-law, Bob Ashby (Marsha Thiel) of Minneapolis, MN.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rowena Webb; sister, Nancy Young (Bob); mother and father-in-law, Lew and Lucile Cook; and his sister-in-law, Karen (Cook) Ashby.
Memorials may be left to the Emmetsburg Education Foundation, Palo Alto County Ambulance Service and the Emmetsburg Fire Department.
