" Dear Barb, Carol Ann and I pray: Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him."
James "Prairie Dog" Sievert, 72, Ashwaubenon, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Thursday, October 15, 2015, at "The Hutch" in the beautiful Wisconsin Northwoods.
Jim, the only child of Elta and the late Maynard Sievert, was born October 27, 1942 in Bonduel, Wisconsin.
On June 27, 1964, Jim married his Preble High School sweetheart and the love of his life, Barbara Jean Bosacki. These best friends shared 51 years of love and laughter, especially treasuring their Friday date nights.
Jim was a proud and devoted father to his daughter Kris Sievert (Phoenix, AZ) and son Kurt Sievert ( Los Angeles, CA). He was exceptionally proud of his granddaughter Rheya and grandson Skyler.
Jim worked at Paper Converting Machine Company for 41 years in various positions. As a Road Serviceman, Jim traveled extensively for 19 years with the remainder of his career spent at Paper Converting as a Project Manager. Jim's retirement in 2005 afforded him time to focus on his lifelong interests and hobbies.
Bow hunting and fishing were two favorites he enjoyed with buddies at The Hutch, Knotty Pines, and Lac View Desert. Captain of boat #7 has "pulled for shore" one last time. Jim also enjoyed bowling, golfing, trap and skeet shooting, snowmobiling, making Booyah, and playing on the neighborhood softball team. Family vacations at Shawano Lake and Saint Germain were filled with endless hours of boating, skiing, tubing, and sailing. Jim recently transitioned from cruising on Harleys to pedaling his Trek bicycle. While a Packers and Brewers fan, Jim's strongest loyalty and support went to the sports and activities of his children and grandchildren. Jim's calm demeanor with dogs was clearly evidenced in his "Dog Whisperer-like" relationships with Scuffy, Button, Loqua, Moqua, and Libby.
His legacy is an endless showcase of pure integrity and strength of character and physicality. Jim was a tenacious human being who was as hard working and loyal as they come. He was a man of his word, and always chose the right words and the right moments to speak them. Well versed in countless topics and current events, Jim was a knowledgeable conversationalist.
Jim had an inherent gift for all things mechanical. He also took tremendous pride in overall home and yard maintenance. No matter what team you are putting together, you would want Jim on it. Strategic. Thoughtful. Witty. Strong. Whatever he touched, he got it done and always did it with passion, perseverance, and fortitude.
Prairie Dog will be greatly missed by all of his survivors which include his wife of 51 years, Barbara; daughter Kris Sievert, Phoenix, AZ; son Kurt Sievert, Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Rheya; grandson Skyler, and Jim's mother Elta Sievert. Other survivors include sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Jan (Harry) Seiler, Diane (Gary) Bredael, Sharon Bosacki, Denise Kaluza, Roxanne (Alan) Sweney, and Gene (Debra) Bosacki; nieces and nephews, David Seiler, Dana Jansen, Paul Bredael, Scott (Stephanie) Bredael, Matthew Kaluza, Tyler Sweney, Corissa Bosacki, Joel (Laura) Bosacki, Jacob (Helen) Bosacki, Jeanna (John) Hilbelink, Katie Bosacki, and other relatives.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Maynard Sievert, mother and father-in-law Regina and Joseph Bosacki, and brother-in-law Joe Kaluza.
