Robert "Red" Kreuter
April 27, 1933 - October 22, 2015

Robert "Red" Kreuter, age 82, of Green Bay, WI and Fort Myers, FL entered eternal life on Thursday. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 38 years, Cheryl, his three children; son Chris Kreuter and his wife Erin and grandsons Griffin Kreuter and Sebastian Kreuter of Albuquerque, NM, son Kyle Kreuter of Green Bay and daughter Stephanie and her husband Daniel Brunner, grandson Bailey Brunner and granddaughter Riley Brunner of Racine, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Esther (Sievers) Kreuter.

Red was a 1952 graduate of Green Bay West High School. He excelled in football, basketball, track and tennis. He was quarterback of the undefeated1951 West High School football team. He attended Valparaiso University in Indiana on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in business. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict.

He was an avid athlete all his life, enjoying tennis, soft ball and racquetball in which he won city and state championships. He enjoyed running, bicycling and golfing with his buddies.

He spent most of his adult life in the plumbing and heating industry, working at Amstan Supply and Murphy Supply. He started Mid-State Supply of Green Bay in 1983 and managed it until his retirement in 1998. In 1998 the Mechanical Contractors Association of Wisconsin awarded him a meritorious service award.

After retiring in 1998, Red and Cheryl lived the snowbird life between their home in Green Bay and their condo at the Hideaway Country Club in Fort Myers. There he served on the board of directors as vice president and president of the condo association and volunteered for many work projects.

He loved woodworking and making toys for his grandchildren, family and friends. Red always felt that he was blessed because he had such wonderful family and friends and that he enjoyed every day of his life.

He was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church of Fort Myers, Florida and in the summer attended St. Mark Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Wi. At Red's request, private family services will be held in his memory.

"Kyle, I'm sorry for your loss. Red was one of my first customers. He was one of the pillars in Green Bay. I talked to Red before my first outing at Twin Oaks many years ago. Red asked if I was any good. After I replied that I enjoyed the game in spite of my talent, Red's response was, "Well, we have a toilet out there for guys like you, maybe you can hit that." I'm sure you remember the significance of that comment. Until I got on the course, I didn't know what to think. I'll never forget Red's chuckle when he said that, nor did John Sustman let me either."
