Janet Gaye (Hursey) Smith, of Southwest Ranches, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Memorial Pembroke Hospital, under the care of Vitas Healthcare. She was 68 years of age.
Janet was born in Miami, Florida on March 22, 1947, daughter of William Donohue Hursey and Lorraine June (Lively) Hursey. In 1974, she and her family moved to Southwest Ranches and was employed for many years at Nova Southeastern University as the payroll supervisor. In her spare time, Janet vacationed at Topsider Resort on Islamorada and loved to fish.
Janet is survived by her loving son, Mike Smith and his wife Tammy Smith, two adored granddaughters, Ryan and Paige Smith and her best friend of more 60 years, Carolyn Darden. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard W. Smith 2012 and her husband, Richard R. Smith in 2013.
The family will greet friends from 2:00 ~ 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, DECEMBER 5th at Fred Hunters University Drive Home, 2401 South University Drive in Davie. A Celebration of Janet's Life will begin at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor Bob Sands officiating. Interment will be private.
