"First, to the family I am sorry for your loss! I've known Mike for about 10 years and I must say that he is one of the most respectful men I have met. I met him for the first time because he carried his Marine briefcase with pride and I had just got out of the Marines and started conversation about his briefcase. He has reminded me ever since that he knows I'm a Marine as well. He always greeted me and treated me with great respect just because that's who he was. He was funny and very talented in his work, he was something to see in the courtroom! Even Being on the opposite side of a case, as law enforcement, I learned more from "Shanks" than from any class or teacher about testifying. Not only in the courtroom watching him, he would pull me aside and give me pointers and tips or tell me I did well after just about every case I testified on, if he was present, wether he was involved in the case or not.
