Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona with Father Edwared Girres presiding. Visitation will be Monday, February 8, 2016, from 4-7 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Jason Lee Hoffman was born July 8, 1975, in Estherville, Iowa, the son of Reggie and Joanne (Goodroad) Hoffman. Shortly after, they moved to Algona where he was raised and attended school. He graduated from the Algona High School in 1994 and went on to attend college and received a degree in Electronics Communications from Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.
After his schooling, Jason worked for the Lehigh Valley Telephone Coop and also helped his father in his electrical business. He lived on an acreage in Webster County near Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, where he enjoyed riding his horses.
Jason enjoyed the time he was able to spend riding his horses at Brushy Creek, as well as, playing golf, water skiing at Lost Island and just being outdoors in nature.
Jason died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the family lake home on Lost Island Lake in Ruthven, Iowa. He was 40.
He is survived by his parents Reggie and Joanne Hoffman of Algona; maternal grandmother, Clarice Goodroad of Watertown, South Dakota and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding Jason in death was his brother, Chad Hoffman on June 25, 1994; paternal grandparents, Dr. Leonard and Rita Hoffman and maternal grandfather, Glenn Goodroad.
