"My thoughts have been with and about the entire family. May your memories be happy ones!"
Vineta Delmé Bryte was born on April 15, 1929 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska to Millard and Adeline Haning. Growing up she had one older sister (Mary) and two younger brothers (Lu and Jim). She lived all of her life in Fremont County in Southwest Iowa. Her early childhood was spent living in Anderson, Riverton, and Farragut, where she graduated high school in 1946. Vineta was Salutatorian of her graduating class, and following high school, she attended Tarkio College and received her two-year teaching degree.
Glen Reldon Bryte was born on the home farm in Locust Grove Township on January 22, 1926, to Glen and Myrtle Bryte. He was the youngest of five siblings (Rex, Genevieve, Ruth, and Dorothy). One of his sisters' favorite tasks was seeing who got to take care of Reldon. He attended grade school at Hillsdale Country School, located one-fourth mile north of his parent's home. Reldon graduated high school in Northboro, where he excelled at basketball and softball. He was always remembered for his big smile and outgoing personality. He never knew a stranger.
Following Vineta's graduation from Tarkio College, she taught grade school in Northboro for two years, before taking a teaching position in Farragut. Vineta and Reldon met at a Homecoming Dance in Farragut, when Reldon asked her to dance. Later that winter, Reldon came to the Northboro School to shoot baskets with a friend. He waited until after school got out, so that he could ask Vineta to go with him to a dinner for the Shenandoah Amvets Basketball Team. Reldon was a member of that Amvets basketball team and Midway softball team for many years. That first dinner was the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship. Vineta and Reldon began dating, and Vineta accompanied Reldon to most of his basketball games in the winter, and most of his softball games in the summer. They got married on December 26, 1949, in Shenandoah, and Reldon took Vineta to Kansas City for their honeymoon. What she didn't know was he was taking her to watch a basketball tourney all weekend.
They started their lives together on the family farm in Locust Grove Township for most of their 66 years of marriage. To their union, five children were born: Susan, Patricia, Jim, Terri, and Mary Lou. Over the years, Vineta helped Reldon on the farm, but also taught school, worked as a secretary, and worked as an Admissions Counselor at Tarkio College (one of her favorite jobs). Reldon always loved farming and especially his work with his cow herd. They were active members of the Locust Grove Methodist Church, and Reldon was active with the ACSC County Board, the Fremont County Cooperative Elevator Board, and the local church board. One of Vineta's many interests was knitting and cross-stitching items for family members. They loved following the activities of their kids, grandkids and great grandkids. They stayed on the home farm after retirement, before moving into Admiral Manor in Farragut approximately 8 years ago.
They moved to the Stanton Care Center in July of 2015 after their health began to fail. In death, as in life, they were always together, and Vineta and Reldon entered into rest on the same day of March 11, 2016, and are still together in Heaven.
Preceding them in death were their parents and infant daughter (Patricia); Vineta's sister and husband, Mary and J.R. Henderson; Reldon's brother, Rex Bryte; his sister and husband, Genevieve and Russ Metz; his sister and husband, Ruth and Raymond Miller; and sister and husband, Dorothy and Floyd Benedict.
Reldon and Vineta are survived by their children and their families: Susan Bryte and husband Randy Eddings of Marana, AZ, Jim Bryte and wife Bonnie of Cedar Falls, IA, Terri Allen and husband Rex of Red Oak, IA, and Mary Lou Couch of Millard, NE, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and Vineta's brothers: Lu Haning and wife Bobbi of Kansas City, MO., and Jim Haning and wife Mary Anne of Kerrville, TX., and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family for Locust Grove Community Center, Shenandoah Senior Center or Hospice.
Burial will be held at the Locust Grove Cemetery in rural Shenandoah.

"Reldon, Susan, Jim, Terri, Mary Lou and family, We are sad to hear of your sweet Mother's passing. I hold many special memories from "stay overs" at your house among many other activities through out our "Farragut Years". Your Mom is 6 years younger than my Mom, but I believe Mom (Betty Roberts) did some "babysitting for the Haning kids" long ago in Riverton. May God bless you at this time and remember to hold tight to the happy memories. With sympathy, Joy and Denny Hackett"
