Ronald Hanus Sr., 66, of Webster City, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at his home with his daughter Rhonda by his side. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Chad Halbach officiating. Burial will follow the services at Cass Township Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Ronald Lee Hanus was born March 13, 1950 in Webster City, the son of Donald and Marie Kepler Hanus. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1968. That year the family moved to Eagle Grove and Ron joined the United States Marines. On July 26, 1969 he married Karen K. Brannick in Clarion. Ron served 17 months in Vietnam. In 1973 he was honorably discharged with honors. He was employed with Franklin's from 1969 to 1978. From 1978 to 1993 he owned and operated Hanus Salvage Yard. Following his divorce, he was a truck driver for Geise Ready Mix. He retired in 2012 due to failing health.
Ron is survived by his children, Ron Hanus Jr. of Woolstock, Rhonda (Neal Luhmann) Hanus of Webster City, Rebecca Hanus of Webster City; five grandchildren, Jessie Sweazey, Cody Cebula, Cory Cebula, Zach Messerly, Dylan Luhmann; siblings, Mike (Carole) Hanus of Eagle Grove, Don Hanus of Eagle Grove, Rita (Bud) Jacobson of Eagle Grove; many aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends, with some being friendlier than others.
Ron loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed a beer and a good bull slinging session. He was a member of the American Legion Post #191, Friends to the Bon de la Roche Alsace Lorraine France and the American Tap Family.
