In loving memory of

Shirley Stone
November 18, 1918 - April 19, 2016

Shirley Stone, 97, passed away on April 19, 2016 after a brief illness. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Arthur, after 65 years of marriage. Shirley was born on November 18, 1918, in Springfield, Massachusetts, and came to Florida with her family in 1935. There she met Arthur and together they owned and operated Buning the Florist, one of the largest retail chains of florists in the country for over 50 years. Rather than simply retiring after selling the business in 1999, they embarked on a second endeavor, the creation and opening to the public of the Fort Lauderdale Antique Car Museum in Fort Lauderdale after a life time of collecting Packard automobiles. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and was the consummate hostess both in her home and at the museum. Shirley was beloved.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Bennett and husband Gary, granddaughter and husband, Erica Bomsey and Chris Marrow, and two great grandchildren, Emily and Aubrey.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, 718 S Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

"I am so sorry for your loss and my heartfelt condolences to the Family. May the beautiful memories shared, God's wonderful promise of seeing our loved ones again in the near future by means of the resurrection (Acts 24:15) and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds at this time of distress. (Philippians 4:6,7)"

"My dear Shirley how I will miss our wonderful talks and timeless fun. I can still remember you and I dancing to "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree" at FTD conventions and parties. Always you will be in my heart as one of the best friends I ever had. I love you and your entire family."
