"Justin, I remember when I was with Ryan and coming to North Central when I was in 8th grade. You were one of the few that made me feel welcome, and let me into your group. I remember going to shows with you, and sitting outside smoking, you were always having a good time, and making other people have a good time. I never knew the last time I saw you, at the pool hall, would truly be the last. We miss you Justin, and will always miss you. It's surreal, I'm still waiting for you to jump out and say "HAHA just kidding!!!" We love you kid"

"Dear Kevin & Family,I was shocked and saddened to learn today of Justin's untimely death. I got to know Justin in Fall 2005 when he was a student in my social issues course at Butler. He was a very likable and independent young man who often shared his experiences and viewpoints in class. What impressed me most was his gentle, caring, pleasant personality. For this reason I am not surprised to hear that Justin had many friends. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences for the loss of your son and brother."
"Kevin, My mom told me about Justin. Looking at his picture, my first thoughts were, "Justin looks just like a Steckbeck," what a nice looking young man. I can't imagine what you & your family are going through; I am so sorry for your loss. Please know you all are in my prayers and thoughts. "

"Justin you and I were friends all through highschool, always sticking it to the man. I just found out now, January 24th of 2007 almost 2 months after the fact, that you have passed on into another realm. I am so sorry that you went so soon. I know you had so much left to do, but I also know you're in a better place my friend. To his family: Words cannot describe the sorrow you feel. Justin has my utmost respect and I believed him to be a strong character and mind. Take solace in the fact that you raised a good son... a good man. God bless you."
"We still miss you Justin, even almost 2 years later. This time of year is always hard for all of us, and it always will be. Hope you're waiting for us at the gates of heaven buddy."
