Joan Cairns

Joan Cairns, 85, died on March 8, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William D. ?Bud? Cairns. She is survived by four children: Timothy W. Cairns, Michael A. Cairns, Mary B. Kubley and Jane M. Drascic. Another son Christopher W. Cairns died in 1993. Joan is also survived by a sister Geraldine Ralston. Another sister Jane Schrock died in 2001. The Cairns have 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Joan and William were first graders together at St. Mary?s School in their hometown of Elyria, Ohio.

Joan was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Cleveland, OH, and the Oberlin Business College. During her Husband?s 33 year Eli Lilly Career the family moved from Ohio to Indianapolis, Boston, Germany and Canada.

She was a longtime volunteer at the Fall Creek St. Vincent Hospital, and during its move and transition at its present site. She was a lifetime member of the St. Vincent hospital Guild.

Friends and family may gather Monday, March 10th 4-7 pm in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 11th at 1:30 pm at St. Luke Catholic Church.
