"Belcher Family,I have known Chris since elementary school and graduated with him from Carmel High School. He was always happy and outgoing since I can remember. Him and I weren't ever close, but I could call him a friend. I remember he sat next to me in our senior english class, and he was always the first to say hi and ask me how I was doing and occasionally tell me a joke to make me laugh. We often talked about swimming for him, and dance for me, and often got in trouble for talking so much! He was a wonderful man from 1st grade all the way up through college. I know he is in a good place. He will truly be missed by all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.-Ashley Jones"

Ken Stopkotte wrote on Nov 13, 2012:

"Nancy & Matt, Please accept my deepest sympathies. Chris was a bright, intelligent, dynamic and very talented individual. He was also a great champion, a firery competitor and a super teammate to his peers. Out of all the fantastic swimmers (Olympians, National Finalist & State Champions) that I've coached over the past 25 years, Chris was as good or better than all of them. Most importantly, he loved his teammates and his family dearly and would do anything to help them. As a coach, it was a tremendous advantage for our program to go into a competition with Chris and his toughness and incredible intensity on our side. I recently saw Chris during the 2007-2008 Christmas Break. He came over to Fishers to swim for a few days and we had several long coversations about life where we've been and where we were going. I was beaming with pride for him and really excited about how optimistic he was about his future. This is a devastating loss and you are both in my thoughts and prayers.- Ken Stopkotte"

I have known him for years and we were great friends. I still remember the day i called him in need of a little help when my car was wrecked. He came in a hurry to make sure i was ok and that i could make it to work. That evening he picked me up from work and took me dinner only because he knew i was under some serious stress. I told him i owed him one and never got to return the favor...he will always be in my heart..and will be missed..."
