The Krauss? made their home in Cornwall and Litchfield, Conn. for many years and moved to Indianapolis in 1960.

?She was only about five feet tall,? said her husband. ?But she could really hit that golf ball. I could hit it too, but mine always ended up on the wrong fairway.?
Shirley was also a life member of the Junior League of Indianapolis, a 65-year member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

"Deepest sympathy for the Krauss Family"
"Howard and Family,I am sorry that I was unable to attend the visitation, but wanted to let you know that you are all in my thoughts. I wish comfort and peace for you at this time of sorrow. With our families leaving their long time homes in Brendonwood last year, and the passing of Allen Jones earlier this year, that particular generation of Brendonwood residents has now, almost, receded into history. You have my deepest sympathy on Shirley's passing, please accept my condolences on your loss. I imagine Shirley and my motner together right now, working on a lovely flower arrangement. Brendonwood will never be the same.Kindest regards,Frederick Seitz"
"Our deepest condolences to the Krauss family. Shirley must have been a very special lady."
"It was a very new and short friendship with Shirley; my new Kappa friend and her dear care giving husband, Howard. But I will always remember her sweet smile, her long golden hair and her love for chocolate. Good-bye Shirley and peace be with you, Lovingly, Barbara"
"Dear Uncle Howard, John, Howard and Margaret,Our hearts and prayers are with you. We know it must have been difficult watching Aunt Shirley suffer and now coming to terms with her passing. Thank you all for the beautiful obituary and sharing many facts we did not know about our Aunt. She certainly was an incredible lady. We hope and pray that knowing she is in a better place will and is giving you all some comfort at this time.Love Randy & Rita"
