"I spoke to Lenna many times during the school year as she was one of our favored substitutes at several of the elementary schools in Washington Township. I always had to laugh because when I called the first thing she had to do was find her glasses before she could write down her assignment. She'd say how she hated getting old which I readily agreed with and we would laugh some more. Lenna was always upbeat and friendly even when I would call late at night or early in the morning. I will certainly miss talking to her and I know the schools and the children will miss her as well.Even though we never personally met I will miss talking to her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time."

"Dear Bruce, Todd, Heather, and Holly,I was shocked when David called to tell me of Lenna's death. What a wonderful person she was. I first met Lenna when we were Apple Store volunteers. How we used to laugh when the cash register drawers wouldn't open all the way because we were both so pregnant with Todd and David! So many years ago yet it seems like yesterday. David loved coming to your house to play because everyone there always made him feel so welcome. I particularly remember how Lenna used to ask him to play the piano. Even though she probably heard the same song a million times she always gave him such encouragement. What a sweetheart she was and how much she will be missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. "

"There are so many fond memories of Lenna I cannot even begin to name them all. Hilton Head vacations stand out the most. Tom and I will miss Lenna so much. She was always gracious and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. I feel especially blessed to have been able to have had lunch with Cheryl, Linda and Lenna only 2 days before Lenns's passing. That day she mentioned that she was eager for school to start so that she could get back into the classroom. We also shared laughs about how much we detested the Sarah Fisher commercials on TV--especially the one where the little girl says, "Someday I'm going to be a race car driver, too.""

"Bruce & Family:In 1984, I trained for my first "Mini" with a group from the Jordan Y and met Lenna who was also training for her first Mini. We ended up running the race together (we were both equally slow) and shared that triumphant moment of crossing the finish line after 13.1 miles. I had heard she had gotten serious about running and had completed a full marathon but I had no idea she ran Boston 4 times - quite an accomplishment. I still run the Mini every year and I will have Lenna in my thoughts as I cross the finish line....I am so sorry for your loss."
