I said thank you so much Mr. Dellen, and he said I'm Russ, Mr. Dellen was my dad, and he taught me there is always room for improvement. He said when my dad went into this business, it was on a handshake and a promise, and, I try to live that way. Of course we were all shocked and said our Hail Mary's in our hearts for him and his family.Along with some of the others who left their prayers and comments, I too was in his class. We all knew him then as Rusty. I didn't know him that well till we made our senior retreat together at Alverna. That is when I learned after 4 years in school together what a caring and really nice guy he was. Having run into him again the last few years at Chatard gatherings and up at Wawasee, I learned how he had kept his kindness and great attitude. He was truly the adult catholic practicing his faith in the way he treated others, and loved his family. Our prayers and special intentions go out to his family, and may God continue to bless them."

I met you in Freshman year at Brebeuf and will definietley miss that smile at our upcoming 40th Class Reunion. It was great reading those notes from several of our classmates who, like myself knew you as Rusty, the guy with the Olds 442 who seemed to get all the girls. It was so neat to have our sons know each other as friends as well. Life is really only about friends anyway. You and Donna have done a great job in raising such a fine family.I guess the Good Lord needed you more than we did, and so He got a good one to help liven up Heaven and put some more smiles on those already there.Take care my friend."

"My heart goes out to the Dellen family. I regret that I hadn't been in touch with Rusty for many years, but have so many great memories of our fun times during the high school, college & early 20's years. Rusty was the generous one, always gathering his friends for a new adventure. From the beaches & deep sea fishing off Florida's east coast, to Wawasee. I remember helping Red & Rusty cook "spaghetti ala carbanara", a recipe I still use today! Then the motor home trips to Cincy, "Chicago" 8 track tapes blaring until he couldn't contain himself any longer, had to pull over, jump out & dance in front of the headlights! He sold me one of the first Subaru's off the delivery truck, a hideous orange brown thing, but I didn't care because Rusty said it was such a deal! Our paths crossed infrequently as our families went different directions, but there has always been a special place in my heart for this loyal, warm loving guy. May he rest in peace as God gives him a new life and mission. May God bless his family left behind, and surround them with loving friends and His peace to help them through this sudden loss. "

Russ gave my Dad infinite opportunity, teaching his employees honesty, integrity and loyalty to all customers. WHen it was apparent he would not return to work, he made sure Mom and Dad had a car to drive for quite some time. I will always be grateful to Russ for his generosity and kindness to my family. During his ten years of illness, not a week went by that Russ didn't call my dad and encourage him, make him laugh and feel special. I am so sorry for your loss for a wonderful man has been lost. If i was the top leader in sales or the bottom, he always walked in with a smile and said, Brian great job and keep up the hard work, i really appreciate it. One of the last meetings i had with him, he explained to me how many seconds there was in a day and I wish i could have been with him the last day to just thank him for everything that he has meant to me and my family. Rusty was also a great individual to my younger brother, Ryan, that passed away five years ago. Rusty reached out to my brother and did many kind things for him that helped my brother to have a better life knowing it would be a short-lived one.I have personally seen this kindness passed on to his son Nick who has helped me the last few years through some difficult hardships as well. I believe that Rusty's kindness will carry on through his children and you can't ask for a greater legacy than that. I know that she had a deep respect and affection for Russ and your entire family. From her, I know that he was a wonderful person and your family is and will remain in my prayers for a long time to come. God watch over all of you and help you to heal. Sincerely, Ginger Rowland "

"I am so sorry for your loss. When I got the call I just had to look up to the sky and say, "dad, you can't take them all with you..." I would love to be a fly on the wall in heaven...with Jug and his quarters and cane, my dad with his loud, obnoxious behavoir, and then Russ...and heck that's only 3 of them. But between those three who could get a word in edgewise...let alone hear themselves think over the laughter! Save us a seat guys...God Bless "

"I am sick as I just found our about Rusty today. He and I met throught Harleys some years ago and he was in the group when we all went to Sturgis. I remember we trailered our bikes to Denver and we all flew to Denver to meet them. In the Denver airport there were moving floor and I grabbed Rusty and made him Waltz on the moving floor everyone laughed at him and he took it well. We had a lot of fun. I just talked to Rusty a few weeks ago I had made a bad mistake an made my Harley into a 3 wheeler and I needed to sell it and he agreed to allow me to put it on the show room floor without a second though. He said don't worry Susan it will sell. He was more than glad to do it and I was very greatful. We were talking about Harleys and he said he would never ride a Harley with a ferring on it but someone talked him into riding a black one that was on the show room floor he told me he got it outside fired it up and Kansas City was playing on the radio and he fell in love with it and took it for a spin. He told me he had made some changes in his life such as not drinking anymore and we talked about the difference that had made. For no better than I really knew him I felt I knew him well. He was so kind and I used to love to hear his voice on his TV commercials as it was such a soothing and sweet sound. I know just from talking to him how much his wife and kids ment to him. My heart is truely broken today to loose such a nice friend. My heart and prayers go out to his wife and sons please take care of yoursselves God Bless you Susan Gehring RN"

"Russ came up to me, a complete stranger to him, at an HOG Chapter 1 meeting, smiled, shook my hand, and asked my name and the bike that I rode. I told him and that I had over 45 thousand miles on the 02 Softail and that my daughter and I rode all Indiana and Ohio together, that she was a true Harley girl trusting the bike and her dad leaning in the curves with me. I told him that I lost my daughter to lung cancer in Jan. 05 and that my wife and I were raising her two teenage daughters and that I was holding on to my bike for sentmental reasons. Russ gave me a pat on the back and said that is what he would do, too. At the end of that meeting when they gave out gift cards my name was called and to my surprise I was given a gift card! At future meetings Russ remembered me and always gave me a smile, handshake, or pat on the back. God bless him. That was the extent of knowing Russ but I felt like I knew him well. May God comfort his family and friends."

"Donna-I just heard of Russ's death tonight from a fellow PF member. I am so sorry for your loss. Both of you always greeted me (and my student) whenever we happened to cross paths at the gym. Russ and I had one long "cardio conversation" where he expressed his thankfulness for you and his pride in his family....not one word about his business life...it was all about family. He offered encouragement to all of us at the gym with a smile that really made it seem like he knew the outcome would be positive. I pray that you will feel the peace that passes understanding and the comfort that only the Lord can offer through this difficult time. "

Through your encouragement and gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) prodding, Tom and I have gotten much more involved in some of the worthwhile projects that your incredible generosity helps to support. I will never stop missing you"
