" The news of Grant's death reached me last night and Maureen and I want to express our deepest sympathy to you, Clay, and Ryan. Grant entered my life when I was 6 years old and I have many memories of him. What stands out most is the way he faced overwhelming loss but never gave up. Somehow he was able to set new goals for himself and work towards them. That he didn't succeed is overshadowed by the fact that in spite of everything he kept trying. He will be an inspiration to me when I face my own losses in the future. Jim & Maureen"

"Grant and I played Little League baseball at Nora. I believe he played for the Ready Mix Braves; I played for the Schmidt Drug Cubs. We were both catchers. I had pretty much lost track of him until a few years ago. After his stroke, I ran across him at the nursing home while I was visiting a client. We had a great conversation. I am glad I had the chance to reconnect with him. I'm sorry he had to struggle so at such an early age, but it is a reminder to us all to enjoy our family, life and friends and not take anything for granted."

"To the family of Grant Beardshear: When a loved one dies, it causes so much sorrow. It is my hope as a volunteer to bring to the family a comforting thought. In the Bible book of Job there is a beautiful comparison of a tree that gets cut down yet sprouts again, to a man who gets 'cut down' by death yet will be brought back to life. It says at Job 14:7,14,15: "For there exists hope for even a tree. If it gets cut down, it will even sprout again...If an able-bodied man dies can he live again?...You (God) will call and I myself shall answer you. for the works of your hands you will have a yearning." Yes, the Creator longs to bring back to life those who have died. What a wonderful prominse and sure future for those asleep in death. Now, though, we express our deepest sympathy to all the family."

These past years since Grant's stroke have been like reconnecting with a old friend. Grant - we all love you so much. You'll be coming home to Boise just as you wanted and we will see you tucked in next to Aunt Evie, Uncle Al, and sweet and funny Craig. Your valient battle is now over and you can rest in God's Kingdom . Until we all meet again, dear cousin, we'll be thinking of you with fondness and remembering your strength and determination. "To Carol, Ryan & Clay, we were so sorry to hear of Grant's passing, as he was always the eternal optimist which gave us all who knew him great hope for any of our trials in this life. Marilynn and I were very grateful for the opportunity to see Grant recently and enjoyed his wisdom, as he might have had some physical challenges, but he was still sharp as a tack and he had quite a dry humor which made us have some good laughs. Grant, you have left this world, but I know I'm a better person from our associations from childhood throughout your life. We look forward to being with you someday. Love, Aunt Doris, Cousin John & Marilynn & Family"
