In loving memory of

Charley Kirk
December 31, 1969 - December 31, 1969

A wondrous man, Charley Kirk, passed away on September 12, 2009. He was a man of many talents, passions, and loves; the greatest love, his wife and two young boys; Carrie, William, and George. Along with his bundle of close friends, Charley sailed with the skills of a born sailor- from Northern Michigan to the Caribbean. An avid road cyclist, Charley loved the speed of a fast ride and the camaraderie of the peloton. Charley so appreciated great books, generous gardens, beautiful architecture and absolutely terrific English serials. His mornings were made complete with a perfect latte, a walk to school with William and George and a kiss from his beautiful wife. Two energetic English Springer Spaniels, Chief and Rumpole will miss their Commander-in-chief, while the family will cherish the exhilarating rides in a Jeep Wrangler and a life of true friendships in Meridian- Kessler.
Charles Avery Kirk was born in Indianapolis on June 25, 1961. He attended Orchard Country Day School and studied violin with the internationally acclaimed concert violinists, Eddy Brown and Saul Montoya. Charley graduated from North Central High School and received his bachelor?s degree in English and History from Indiana University in 1983 and graduated summa cum laude from the University School of Law- Indianapolis in 1990. He had been a member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club and of the Players Club. Charley practiced law with the Indianapolis law firm of Locke Reynolds Boyd & Weisell until he joined Dow AgroSciences in Decemeber 1993. He was most recently Legal Counsel representing the Dow AgroSciences Commercial Regulatory Group.
Charley is survived by his wife, Carrie Besore; his two sons, William and George; his mother, Mary Elizabeth Kirk; his brother and sister, Christopher Kirk (Janet Stanford) and Lisa Salazar (Jack Payne); and countless close friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence L. Kirk. Charley was a dedicated father, husband, son and brother, a devoted friend, and respected lawyer. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be Thursday, September 17, starting at 3:30 pm at the North United Methodist Church, 38th and Meridian St, with a celebration of life in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charley?s memory to the William and George Kirk Educational Scholarship Fund established at North Park Community Credit Union, 5965 W. Technology Center Dr, Indianapolis, IN, 46278 or St. Joan of Arc School, 500 E. 42nd St., Indianapolis, IN, 46205. "Dear Carrie and family,It is with great sadness that we read about Charlie. It was not all that long ago that we met you and your sons with him at the noodles eatery. We were lucky that we kept bumping into Charlie over the years, and we go back many years. Charlie was our friend from the early 80's when he worked with me at the Eagle Creek Marina. He taught me to sail and how to repair boats. We had alot of fun together in those days. I remember taking him and his friend Pat on their first backpacking trip. I recommended Charlie to replace me as the marina manager when I left because I thought so highly of his skills and personal qualities. Charlie did some volunteer work at Jane's school and often through chance meetings like that we were able to see him and catch up with each other. We shall always remember him as a mellow person with a unique mix of talents and interests. And he had a wonderful way of showing attention to the people he was with. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow. With sympathy,"
