Ann Thomas Donato
Born in Muncie, Indiana July 20, 1941 and moved to Indianapolis when she was seven years old. She went to grade school at IPS 70. She graduated from Tudor Hall High School in 1959 and from Christian College in Columbia, Missouri in 1961 with a degree in the arts. She was musically gifted as a Pianist, organist and cellist. She was a decorative painter for several years under the name ?Village Expressions? and belonged to the National Association of Decorative Painters and the Indy Tolers. She painted regularly with friends that called themselves the ?Dip Dot Darlings?.
She was a dedicated and caring mother raising three children Lisa, Albert III and Michael encouaging each one in their many sport and music activities. She always played the piano and encouraged family sing-a-longs. She loved her family and especially enjoyed gathering her children and grandchildren together for Sunday cookouts.
Ann played golf in the summer and was a member of the nine hole group at Highland Golf and Country Club. She loved to travel with her husband to the Caribbean Islands, Italy, England, Scottland, Ireland and China. For someone who was not a swimmer, one of her favorite trips was sailing the Greek Islands in a 70? sailboat. One of her favorite spots to visit was Santorini, Greece.
She loved to winter in Florida and have her children visit with the grandchildren. She enjoyed taking them to the beach and out in the boat to ride along with the dolphins.
She was active with the St. Vincent Hospital Guild, chairing several projects. She is currently a member of St. Louis de Montfort church. She previously was a member of St Alphonsus Chuch in Zionsville, IN where she participated in the choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister and reflected with her close friends in her Cursillo group.
Ann has three brothers, Morris E. Thomas, Jr, James D. Thomas and John R. Thomas. She was preceeded in death by her parents Ruby Thomas and Morris E. Thomas, MD.
She leaves her husband, Albert M. Donato, Jr, a daughter; Lisa D Goss, two sons; Albert M. Donato, III and Michael A. Donato, six grandaughters; Adrianna Nicole Goss, Adena Corinne Goss, Victoria Louise Donato, Nicole Marie Donato, Audrey Ann Donato and Isabella Marie Donato.
Friends and family will gather from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Leppert Mortuary, Nora Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 12, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church in Zionsville with a one hour calling prior to mass.
