"I read Pat's obituary in the Indianapolis Star with sadness and wanted to acknowledge your loss. I met her twice: once at home when I came to interview Richard about the Martinsville Candy Kitchen, and a few years ago at the Candy Kitchen during the Chrismas candy cane madness. Richard pulled what was probably his last candy cane, and it was caught by many cameras. Best wishes to all of you, peace and comfort."

"Dear Dick and family, I just learned today of Pat's passing. I was so saddened. I have the most wonderful memories of babysitting for all the Zapaps kids in Martinsville and admired and loved Pat. She was a true example of a good person, Mother and someone I wanted to emulate. She was my High School Sunshine Society "Ideal Lady!!" That truly sums up my feelings for Pat. I am so sorry for you Dick and kids. My daddy had Altzheimer's and you loose your loved one long before they leave this earth. God Bless you all and I will have a mass said for Pat."
